AOMedia Video 1 (AV1) is an open source video codec is developed by Alliance for Open Media specifically for video transmissions over the Internet. AV1 codec is in trend, but you won’t find much content encoded with this codec. This extension helps video apps installed on Windows 10 play videos that have been encoded using the AV1 video coding standard developed by the Alliance for Open Media. Download AV1 Video Extension from Microsoft Store.Once installation completes, you don’t have to perform additional steps. After installing AV1 Codec extension you will be able to play video encoded by AV1 coded using default Movies & TV app or in Classic Edge browser.
At any point, if you want to want to remove playback codec, then here’s how you can do that: Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features. Here scroll down to AV1 Video Extension and then click on the Uninstall button.
